Anti oxidative efficacy of a 4-amino-3-(4-chlorobenzyl)-1H-1,2,4- triazole-5(4H)-thione ( C ) is evaluated against electron beam irradiation (EBR) and Paraquat (Pq) induced oxidative stress in Drosophila melanogaster - Oregon K male flies. It is evaluated through biochemical estimation of oxidative stress markers like malondi aldehyde (MDA), glutathione (GSH), antioxidant enzymes like superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) in th e homogenate of the flies. Elevation in the level of MDA and depletion in the level of glutathione was o bserved in homogenate of flies due to stress induced by both i rradiation and Pq. But significant protective effec t is observed with compound treated flies. The triazole derivativ e emerges as promising molecule with significant an tioxidative stress property.
