Spectrophotometric determination of Eplerenone in pharmaceutical bulk and tablet dosage form

A simple, accurate, rapid and sensitive method is developed for the estimation of eplerenone in bulk and tablet formulation. In this method orange colour complex was observed due to reaction of keto group of eplerenone with 2, 4-dinitrophenyl hydrazine (2, 4- DNPH) in 0.1 M H2SO4, which shows λ max at 430 nm. Molar absorptivity of the drug was found to be 3.177 x 104. The Beer’s law was obeyed in the concentration range of 5- 35 μg /ml. The proposed method can be useful for routine analysis of eplerenone in bulk and tablet formulation.
