Synthesis of coumarins via Pechmann reaction using Antimony chloride immobilized on neutral alumina as a Catalyst under solvent free conditions
Author(s): M Hari Krishna and P ThriveniSynthesis of coumarin derivatives from phenols with ethyl acetoacetate (via Pechmann reaction) in an excellent yield (86-95%) in presence of SbCl3–Al2O3 using microwave (MW) irradiation under solvent-free conditions. The present protocol shows some specific advantages such as short reaction times under solvent-free conditions.
