In the present study, we have reported the synthesis of various Imidazo [2, 1-b] [1,3,4] thiadiazole derivatives. These derivatives are of interest because they exhibit a wide range of pharmacological activities. In the reactions we have reacted various substituted benzoic acids with thiosemicarbazide in the presence of Phosphorous Oxychloride to yield the substituted 1, 3, 4-thiadiazole nucleus. Further this was treated with various substituted bromoacetyl compounds to synthesize various derivatives. These derivatives were further characterized by various spectral techniques and were screened for the antimicrobial activity against Bacterial strains of Shigella flexneri, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans.
