ABSTRACT

Chelate polymers  of CrIII, MnIII, FeIII, TiIII, VOIV, ZrIV, MoO2VI and UO2VI with  poly-Schiff base ligand derived from 4,4’-bis-[(salycylaldehyde-5)azo] biphenyl and 1,3-diaminopropane have been prepared  and characterized by elemental analyses, spectral ( IR and electronic spectra) , magnetic  and thermal data. All the chelate polymers are colored, stable under dry condition and insoluble in common organic solvents. The chelation is through the nitrogen of the azomethine group and oxygen of hydroxyl group of poly-Schiff base. Biological studies of the ligand and its chelate polymers have been assessed by screening them against various microorganisms.
