ABSTRACT

In view of various biological activities of benzoxazoles, thiadiazoles and oxadiazole derivatives, it was our interest to prepare benzoxazole derivatives involving 1,3,4-thiadiazole and 1,3,4-oxadiazole nucleus and evaluate them for antifungal and anti-inflammatory activity using carrageenan induced rat paw edema model. The structures of all the synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, 1H-NMR and MASS spectral data. All the synthesized compounds were screened for antifungal and anti-inflammatory activity. Among all the active compounds thiadiazole and oxadiazole derivatives showed good activity.

Key words: Benzoxazoles, thiadiazoles, antifungal agents, anti-inflammatory agents, oxadiazoles.
