ABSTRACT

In the present communication a simple and efficient synthesis of some new  acridines are  described by the one-pot condensation of 3, 4, 9, 10-tetrahydroacridine-1(2H)-one, substituted aldehyde and liquor ammonia in alkaline polyethylene glycol (PEG-400) as green reaction solvent. The newly synthesized products were evaluated for their antibacterial and antifungal activity

Key words: Polyethylene glycol (PEG-400), 3,4,9,10-tetrahydroacridine-1(2H)-one, substituted aldehyde, antimicrobial activity.
