Microwave assisted catalyst free synthesis of 3-hydroxy-2-oxidoles by aldol condensation of acetophenones with isatins

Chandrasekhara RaoAn efficient and catalyst free method is described for the synthesis of oxindole by the reaction of isatin with ketones under microwave irradiation. The method is applicable for a variety of isatins and ketones and avoids the use of organic solvent. Some new oxindoles are prepared in good yield.
