Microwave Assisted-Solvent Free Synthesis of Imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines
Author(s): Tejeswararao Dharmana, Mallika SwapnaA facile microwave assisted reaction of phenacyl bromide and 2-amino pyridine is catalyzed by an ionic liquid 1-(4-sulfonic acid) butylpyridinium hydrogen sulfate under solvent free conditions to give corresponding imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines in good yields. Reactions proceed with high efficiency and good functional group tolerance. This approach provides a useful protocol for the preparation of highly substituted imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine derivatives.
