Preparation and characterization of multiwall carbo n nanotubes decorated with zinc oxide

Multiwall carbon nanotubes MWCNTs were synthesized then decorated with ZnO. The decorated ZnO was grow n on the surface of MWCNTs via simple wet chemical ro ute. The prepared MWCNTs/ZnO composite was characterized by X-ray diffraction, EDS, HRTEM, FTI R as well as thermal analysis. Zinc oxide with abo ut 30 nm as confirmed by HRTEM and XRD could be described as wurtzite hexagonal crystalline structure. The HRTE M results showed that the MWCNTs were uniformly decor ated with ZnO nanoparticles with nearly no agglomer ation. The co-operative behavior between MWCNTs and ZnO gi ves rise to the production of advanced functional m aterials with a wide range of applications.
