Author(s): Bhavana K. Patel* ,1 and Sanjay D. Patel* 2

The biologically potent ligand 2,4-dihydroxy-5-((5- phenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)diazenyl)phenyl)(phenyl )methanone (DAPOBR) was prepared by diazotization reaction of diazonium salt of 2-Amino-5-phenyl-[1,3,4]-Oxadiazole (APO) and benzoresorcinol (BR). The Cu(II) complex es have been synthesized by mixing an aqueous solut ion of metal salts in 1 : 2 molar ratios with 1,3,4-oxidaz ole ligands. Characterization of novel ligand was c arried out by CHN, FT-IR, NMR and mass spectral analysis, while s tructures and geometry of metal chelates viz. Cu 2+ , Ni 2+ , Co 2+ , Mn 2+ and Zn 2+ was confirmed by CHN analysis along with reflectan ce spectroscopies and magnetic moment studies. Also the antifungal activity of DAPOBR and its metal chelates was examined against various fu ngus.
