Synthesis and antitubercular activity of some new 2, 3-disubstituted quinazolinones

In continuation for the search for newer molecules with minimal side effects, broad spectrum of activity and drug resistant pathogens, especially Mycobacterium tuberculosis a series of 2-(substituted)-N-(4oxo-2-(pyridine-2- yl)quinazolin-3(4H)-yl acetamide and 2 (substituted)-N-(4oxo-2-(pyridine-3-yl)quinazolin-3(4H)-yl acetamide were synthesized. The structure of the compounds has been confirmed by IR, NMR (1H & 13C), mass spectral data and elemental analysis. Antitubercular activity was performed by Microplate Alamar Blue Assay (MABA) method.
