Synthesis of selenium-containing nucleoside analogues, derived from some heterocyclic moieties such as pyridineselenol, pyridazineselenol and quinolineselenol derivatives is described herein. These compounds were prepared in a concise and short synthetic route in good yields, by nucleophilic substitution reaction of different selenoheterocyclic compounds with alkyl halides derivatives (e.g. allyl bromide, 3-chloro-propan-1-ol, 3-chloro-3- hydroxy-propan-1-ol and epichlorohydrine as well). Biological screening of the newly synthesized compounds was screened in vitro and in vivo antioxidant studies. The newly synthesized compounds were characterized using the well known spectroscopic tools (IR, UV, 1HNMR, 13CNMR and mass spectroscopy) as well as microanalysis.
