Biologically active novel chalcone derivatives of1-(4-(((1H-indol-3-yl)methylene)amino)phenyl)-3-aryl prop-2-en-1- one (6a-o) have been synthesised by Claisen-Schmidt condensation reaction.A simple condensation reaction of Schiff’s Base i.e., (E)-1-(4-(((1H-indol-3-yl)methylene)amino)phenyl)ethanone(4)witharyl aldehydes (5a-o)under basic conditions have been carried out. The synthesized chalcone derivatives have been analyzed by IR,1H-NMR, Mass, andelemental analysis. All the newly synthesized chalcone derivatives were screened for anti-bacterial activity against gram positive bacteria (S.aureus, B. subtilis) and gram negative bacteria (E. coli, K. pneumonia). It was found that some of thesechalcone derivatives showing the moderate activity.
