Synthesis, characterization and biological evaluation of some novel N1,N3-substituted 1-piperidin-4-yl-1,3-dihydro-2H-benzimidazol-2-one derivatives

Synthesis of some novel N1,N3-substituted 1-piperidin-4-yl-1,3-dihydro-2H-benzimidazol-2-one derivatives (7-10) were prepared from commercially available 1,2-phenylenediamine. Compounds (7-10) were tested for Gram positive: Streptococcus pyrogenes and Staphylococcus aureus. Gram negative: Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas arzenous, Proteus vulgaris, Salmonella typhi bacterial cultures. Compounds 7-10 were found to be highly active against Streptococcus pyogenes and Escherichia coli.
