Synthesis and Antitumor Evaluation of Some 5-fluorouracil Derivatives
Author(s): Mohammad Abdul Amir Ulaiwy, Mohammed Kamil Hadi, Muthanna Saadi Farhan, Alaa Radhi KhudhairThe present work is designed to synthesize some new derivatives of 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) and evaluation of their antitumor activity in comparison with the reference drug 5-FU. A series of five 5-FU derivatives (1-5) were synthesized. Characterization of all compounds was done by elemental analysis (C, H and N), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and other physicochemical properties. All the newly synthesized compounds were tested for their in vitro antitumor activity; two cell lines were used for the evaluation, Human Cervix Carcinoma Cell Line (HeLa) and Human Breast Carcinoma Cell Line (AMJ13).
