Tamarind Juice Catalyzed Green and Efficient Synthesis of Biscoumarin Derivatives in Aqueous Media

A green and efficient synthesis of biscoumarin derivatives is achieved in aqueous media catalyzed by tamarind juice as a natural catalyst. This Knoevenageal condensation is achieved using 4-hydroxycoumarin and different aromatic aldehyde in aqueous media at reflux condition. The present protocol avoids the use of hazardous reagents and toxic solvents.
